Prayer Prompter now on Web site!

The Prayer Prompter, that is normally only available via handout(s) at the church building, is now available on the web site. We have a new menu item (Prayer Prompter) located on the left side of each web page that will direct you to the new Prayer Prompter web page. We will strive to have each week's prayer prompter available on the web site for the corresponding Sunday morning.

New Sign

Thanks to Don Hartman and Chris Fayette for the new addition to our sign out front advertising our web site. Don't forget to check the web site periodically and to recommend it to friends. The bulletin is available online (usually by Monday evening) and the sermons (usually within 2-3 weeks).

Guest Speaker

Next Sunday (7/11/10), the Mauldins will be in Tennessee for a retreat/workshop. In Jim's absence, Bro. Owen Sweatt will be our speaker on Sunday. Plan on being here to support him and learn from him.

Wednesday Night Meal Preparation

We are still in need of some ladies (or men) to sign up to prepare Wednesday Night Meals for the rest of the year. Two or Three can join together to make it easier. For more information, see Pat Hayes.

Youth Worship

During the next several weeks, we will be undergoing some changes to our "youth worship" format. Some of these changes will be:

  1. AGE - youth worship will now be for those in Kindergarten and younger. The older children will be given packets to help them to pay attention to the lesson in the auditorium
  2. RELEASE TO YOUTH WORSHIP - Please take direction from the song leader as to when it is time to go to youth worship.
  3. STAFFING - We are hoping to hget enough volunteers so that one person doesn't have to be ' there all the time. If you are willing to help on a weekly or monthly rotation, please see Berni Mauldin.
If you have any questions, concerns or comments, please see Jim or Berni Mauldin or one of the elders.

Jim Mauldin - Preaching minister at Westchurch

The preaching minister at Westchurch is Jim Mauldin. Jim is a 1984 graduate of Heritage University in Florence, Alabama. He began his preaching career in Bridgeport, Alabama and has worked with churches in Alabama, Texas and Ohio. Jim and his family spent almost 15 years with the Union Avenue church in Alliance, Ohio. During that time they were involved in many aspects of community life, including civic clubs, serving on the School Board and various other community and government functions.

Jim and his wife, Berni are the parents of two sons, a daughter-in-law, and a puppy. Allen, a 2007 graduate of Harding University is presently a 3rd year law studend at Wake Forest University. Allen’s wife, Gina, graduated from Harding in December, 2007, and is a student at Duke University training to be a Physician’s Assistant. Andrew, a 16 year old junior at Hammond High, is a member of the Hammond High golf team, and was named “most improved golfer” for 2009. Jake, their 1 year old Lab provides plenty of excitement as well as keeping them up at night. Jake was recently named “Hardest Worker” when he graduated from Obedience School.

Berni is active in the teaching program at Westchurch. She organizes the children’s education program as well as directing “Youth Worship” for 4 year olds thru 4th graders during our worship assembly.

Jim is active in the community, currently serving as president of the board (and volunteer dish-washer) of Our Daily Bread, a faith-based feeding program in Hammond. He is also an active member of Hammond Kiwanis Club.

The Mauldins are happy to be at Westchurch and a part of a loving and growing church.
